An 89-Year-Old Woman Made Over 600 Masks Listening to The Beatles

Living alone in the lovely Chicago, Illinois, an 89-year-old grandmother came up with a wonderful idea to spend her time helping others. Teresa Provo, or Grandma Terry as she is known by her friends and family, decided to make masks and help people with their struggles in times of social distancing. She decided she has to make masks for everyone in her family — all fifty members, spread all around the country. She took all the fabric she could get her hands on, made the masks, and mailed them to her relatives.

Grandma Terry says she likes spending time with her computer games, television, and sewing. However, Terry here decided to put her main focus on making masks in order to improve the safety of her family members. She personalized each mask for each person and applied images of their favorite sports teams on the fabric. After that, she also made handwritten notes to encourage her relatives.

While sewing the masks, the unstoppable grandma was listening to The Beatles, which — according to her granddaughter — is her favorite band. Teresa Provo’s efforts didn’t end there. Her “Red Hat Club” friend found out about her endeavor and decided to join forces with the grandma. Together, they’ve made over six hundred masks for the residents in the nursing home where Terry lives. Even though it took them two weeks, they made sure to leave no one unmasked, and are reportedly still making more.

Everyone was happy to get their mask from the skilled grandma and her pals, and many were inspired to do their own part in helping others cope with the realities of social distancing. In fact, people all over the globe are demonstrating the best of humanity with displays of kindness and neighborly love including giving away free masks or free food, and making deliveries for elderly people.
