Sometimes you read one of those stories that just makes you smile, reminding you that the world isn’t all that bad and it’s actually a really wonderful place sometimes. Well, this is one of those heartwarming stories and it involves one grandmother and a lot of school children.

Meet Tinney
88-year-old Tinney Davidson had been waving to passing school-children on their way to school for years and years. After she and her late husband moved into their home in 2007, she would wake up every morning and sit on the porch waving and greeting those school-goers walking past.
Daily Ritual
With Tinney saying hello every morning, the children started waving back, and it soon became a lovely daily ritual for them both. It certainly made Tinney smile. However, she was soon going to move into an assisted living center as her elderly age was affecting her ability to be mobile and independent.

A Huge Surprise
Learning of this move, the school children decided they were going to give one more heartfelt wave goodbye to Tinney, and they knew they had to make it the best wave yet! To show their appreciation and respect, 400 school children walked to her house after school, holding banners and baring gifts. They were clapping and cheering, and the crowd instantly put a beaming smile on Tinney’s face. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
A Lovely Gift
After Tinney walked out onto the porch, the children counted down from three, and all blew a big group kiss to her. Visibly holding back the tears, Tinney expressed her gratitude to the crowd that put in so much effort to send her off to the center in the most delightful way. “Oh, how lovely!” she said. “I was so shocked to see that there were so many children that wanted to say goodbye to me.” Tinney was overwhelmed by the sentiment, and it was the most perfect parting gift she could have received before moving out of her home she had lived in for over 10 years.
There’s so much good in the world, as this grandmother discovered!
