Hockey Player Springs Into Action After Teammate Loses Pulse For Over 5 Minutes

For some, physical activity is to be avoided at all costs. For others, they love nothing more than the exhilaration of competition. One hockey player was playing in a pickup game that threatened to be his last. Luckily, his teammate sprung into action to save the day after he was without a pulse for over five minutes.

Jib Street

Jib Street is a lifelong hockey fan who even has a signed Wayne Gretzky jersey in his memorabilia collection. He loves nothing more than getting out on the ice and smacking a puck around. It was a day like many others on the ice until his life was left hanging in the balance. Street hit the ice and was motionless; he was suffering a cardiac arrest.

Springing Into Action

Luckily for Street, there was someone on his team who knew exactly what to do in this situation. One of his teammates was an emergency room doctor and was able to get to Street immediately. Still, the situation was desperate and the odds of Street surviving were small, and getting smaller, after he didn’t have a pulse for over five minutes. Dr. Craig Bryant turned out to be that helpful teammate, though others on Street’s pickup side were offering any help they could.

The Real Miracle On Ice

Amazingly, Street was able to survive for long enough to get the required medical attention. He looks back on a video of the incident and admits it’s hard to watch. Street says it is difficult to watch yourself go down on the ice and he is eternally grateful for the quick intervention of Dr. Bryant. To show his appreciation Street gave Bryant his most prized possession, his autographed Wayne Gretzky jersey.

Luckily for Jib Street, there was a doctor on hand to save the day, as it could have been so much worse. When presented with the jersey Bryant was overjoyed and told Street: “I love you, man.” The pair have bonded over their love for hockey and will be forever connected.
