Sometimes when we are down on our luck, all we need is a little helping hand to set us straight again. One homeless man found the kindness of strangers was a bit like waiting for a bus. He had hoped for someone to help him out of his situation for a while and then suddenly there were two people lending him a hand.

Joe Arroyo, 30, was sitting on the sidewalk in Manhattan when a jogger approached him. Arroyo is homeless and expected the man to run on by, but amazingly he stopped after reading the sign Joe had laid out. The message on his board explained that Arroyo was homeless, hungry, and wearing broken shoes.

The man told Arroyo that God had been good to him, so he felt as though he should bless the homeless man too. A woman had just happened to be stopped at a red light in the taxi she was riding in at the perfect moment and took out her phone. She videoed the interaction between the two men and posted it online.

Going Viral

Once the story of the man walking away from Arroyo in his bare feet went viral, the media tried to find the homeless man. In an interview, Arroyo said he just needed a chance and would even be willing to work overtime.

An entrepreneur named Andrew caught the news broadcast and went with reporters to track Arroyo down to offer him a job in one of his restaurants. Joe said he really needed this badly and was super grateful for the opportunity his potential new boss had just given him.

Andrew said people do genuinely want to help, just like the gentleman who gave him the shoes off his feet. They just might take a while to come along.
