Some of us have a local cat that we see on our way to work or the same flock of pigeons that seem to call the street their home. So what about a fully-grown horse? Yes, one town in Germany has an unusual pet who likes to stroll through the streets all on her own.

Her Usual Stroll
Jenny has been taking the same 12-mile walk every day for the last 14 years. It turns out this horse prefers to stroll through the streets rather than stay at her home, but no one seems to mind. In fact, the horse has become such a prominent part of the neighborhood that most people look forward to seeing Jenny as they go about their day.
An Unusual Lifestyle
It turns out that Jenny’s owner always used to ride the horse, but has since grown too old to carry on with their exercise. Instead, he merely opens up the stable door and lets Jenny decide where she wants to go instead. It looks as though this horse prefers to nibble on the grass at the edge of the rivers and around the town rather than stay confined to her home.

Local Celebrity
Her time in the town has made Jenny a local celebrity. Many locals get to see the horse every morning as they go about their business, and some motorists have been known to sit and wait for Jenny until she has moved on. As if that wasn’t enough, a local vet performs regular check-ups on the horse and admits that Jenny shows no signs of stress from her unique lifestyle.
Keeping Calm
So what about the people who have never met Jenny before? Thankfully, the horse had a note attached to her headcollar that explains that she is merely out for a walk and hasn’t run away. Sometimes people head to the town and call the police when they spot a rogue horse out for a walk and haven’t seen her note, but the local authorities have an agreement with the owner and admit they have never had an issue with Jenny.
Some watch the ducks, others see dogs on walks. This town? They get to see Jenny as she heads about the streets on her daily walks – all on her own.
