If you’re a fan of the forking good comedy series, The Good Place, you’ll know that Jameela Jamil is kind of a big deal. She’s an actress, she’s a model, she’s a television presenter, and she’s an activist. Yes, after living her life in the spotlight, Jameela has come to learn the darker side of the beauty world, and she’s now using her power and her voice to call out dangerous beauty standards that are affecting people across the globe. In fact, she’s even calling out other celebrities for promoting such unrealistic standards.

Launching I Weigh
Although you probably know Jameela Jamil for her acting talents and her face on your television screen, you might also know her for launching a social media revolution by the name of I Weigh. She created this movement to help men and women “feel valuable and see how amazing we are, and look past the flesh on our bones.” She has been extremely vocal about her own issues with her body in the past and even confessed that she used the likes of laxatives and other appetite suppressant products when she was a teen in order to look like the “ideal” woman. However, she has now realized that starving herself and using these products was not a healthy way for her to lose weight or a healthy lesson to her fans. This has not stopped other celebs from promoting these products, though…

Calling Them Out
When you scroll through social media, it won’t take you long to find a celebrity who is promoting a product or service. While it’s now easily noticeable when they are being paid to promote such a product, that doesn’t mean it’s any less damaging. In the past few months, Jameela Jamil has called out the likes of the Kardashian family, Cardi B, Iggy Azalea, Amber Rose, and other social media influencers for offering discount codes for the likes of weight loss shakes and supplements that supposedly aid weight loss. The celebs help to sell these products by suggesting that they have used these products to obtain their enviable figures. Yet, Jameela knows better. In one Tweet that went viral, she asked these celebs to “Give us the discount codes to your nutritionists, personal chefs, personal trainers, airbrushers and plastic surgeons.”
It’s important to remember that what you see isn’t always what you get on social media…
