Aside from all of the glitz, glamor, and incredible outfits at award ceremonies, there is one thing that we love more than anything else. The speeches. Many celebrities use their award speech to talk about issues that are important to them and, of course, Lady Gaga is no different. Never afraid to speak her mind, her 2019 Grammys speech is one we all needed to hear.

Scooping Up Awards
Lady Gaga did pretty well at the Grammys this year, scooping up a total of three awards; one for Best Pop Solo Performance and two for the song Shallow, from A Star Is Born. As one of the best-selling music artists in history, along with a whole trophy cabinet of awards, Lady Gaga is a voice that people listen to. Luckily, she used that voice for good when she went up to collect one of her three Grammy Awards.

Mental Health Awareness
Lady Gaga started her speech by saying how proud she was to be in a movie that addresses mental health issues. Gaga was referring to her part in A Star Is Born, which covers sensitive subjects such as depression, anxiety, and substance struggles. She goes on to talk about how mental health issues are so important, and that a lot of artists deal with them. “We got to take care of each other,” she says to a cheering crowd.

Helping Others
However, it’s not just the Hollywood elite that struggle with mental health conditions. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 adults in America experiences a mental illness every year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Health. Lady Gaga encourages us to help each other, by not looking away if we see someone is hurting. She also encourages those who are hurting to “dive deep” and tell somebody to share the load.
Lady Gaga is one of the biggest stars in the world, and it’s important to her to use her celebrity status for good. This Grammys speech struck a chord with the internet – and with us, too.
