There is a problem with the way we live; it’s just not sustainable. We buy goods in plastic packaging, throw them away, and then they end up floating around in the oceans. Wouldn’t it be better if there was a way to reuse the packaging from our goods? Now there is thanks to this guy!

The Milkman Always Delivers
You might not remember the times when our milk was delivered to us by milkmen, but that is the basic concept for a new business. Tom Szaky has come up with a revolutionary idea to save the planet. He is proposing we go back in time and receive our goods like having milk delivered. Szaky is an eco-conscious author who has convinced major companies to get onboard with his idea.
Sick Of Waste
Szaky was sick of throwing away single-use plastics from the grocery store, so he wanted to change how we consume products. Washing up liquid, water, detergent, and mouthwash all come in plastic bottles that we throw away after using. In truth, there are a ton of household items that we throw away once we’ve used them and this is what Szaky is looking to change.

Knocking On The Door
Szaky’s idea proposed that once you’ve used your household item, instead of throwing it in the trash, someone will come along to your home and refill it. The idea could change the future, and Szaky has convinced many companies to get onboard with his plan.

Introducing Loop
Loop is the company based on Szaky’s idea and their message is simple: “Shop and enjoy, then we pick up the refill.” Your online purchases come in a tote bag which you then place your empties in, and the company comes along, cleans your containers, and brings you a refill.
Major companies such as Oral-B, Evian, Gillette, and Dove have already agreed to be part of testing. Paris and New York have been chosen as test cities and if successful further tests will be carried out in London, Tokyo, and San Francisco.
This proposal could change how we view waste. It can make buying our products far more sustainable with minimal impact on our lives as all we do is let the company know when we need refills. Simple!
